As a commentator, my creative practice is driven by global events, responding to broad sociopolitical provocations. This contextual framework for personal catharsis prevails in my metal and enamel sculpture and jewelry as a call to arms. Recently, my work responded to the blow-back felt by the fast-moving push in the inflammatory sociopolitical climate of the past 4 years. The egg shell metaphorically exemplified our state of being of opposing dynamics: strength vs fragility, durability vs vulnerability. But suddenly, America went into freefall: Covid 19 took over and my imagery went with it. Then George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement brought a newest, ever vital resurgence. My most recent pieces are reacting to the current outrage breaking through the groundwork of the latest developments of destructive, caustic, and systemic abuse of our people and resources.
