I honor and value the 3000-year-old craft of metal smiths yet feel today’s jeweler can go beyond simple body adornment. The news reveals startling, haunting images of actions thrust on people caught in circumstances beyond their control…and mine. The enormity of today’s disturbing world events manifests in my work as memorials to those affected, a testimony of their struggle and existence. They are reminders of our need for humanity. The painted settings behind some of the jewelry pieces reinforces the story while holding place when the necklace is being worn. The wall pieces stand on their own.
