Statement

Global events inspire my compulsion to create, along with the impact of my personal surroundings. As a metalsmith, I see and think of form first… the image of immigrants fleeing, the chunks of unearthed concrete, the patterns of old, peeling wallpaper. As an enamellist, I use color to add vibrancy to my imagery and enhance the impact of my statement. Happily, I am not constrained to this direction with my imagery. I also free myself to explore techniques and materials that lead to more spontaneous, playful work. Much of these explorations become part of my “tool bag” of techniques to be incorporated into future work.
