Bio

Judy Wukitsch is a Jersey girl often accused of possessing a New York state-of-mind (guilty as charged!) For several years she ran a successful non-profit fine arts gallery while creating cultural programming for her local community. A retired co-founder and Director of the Pierro Gallery and Pierro Foundation as well as Adjunct Professor at Kean University, Judy continues work as an independent curator, arts consultant, juror/panelist, and serves on numerous arts organization boards.

Judy creates small sculptures and a variety of jewelry as a metal smith and enamelist in which she brings her own visions to life. She most often works in fine metals, copper, vitreous enamels, and found objects on a small scale, frequently as one-of-a-kind body wear/jewelry. Her creative practice is often driven by global social and political events as the contextual framework for personal catharsis and a call for action. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions including the Newark Museum, NJ; the Morris Museum, NJ; Wayne Art Center, PA; Wooster Craft Museum, MA; Dineen Hull Gallery, NJ; Monmouth University, NJ; and Montclair University, NJ, and others.

Ongoing in her life and work is a deep love of bringing people together through the arts as well as curating a variety of exhibitions and events. Her enchantment with the arts, food, travel and exploration has made her “curiouser and curiouser” about the world beyond her. Judy lives in Hoboken where, despite the breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, she is often found traveling underground to studios in mid-town Manhattan. She has three remarkable adult children – independent in every sense of the word, and no pets, although her plants seem relatively happy!
