Habitat

We are unavoidably impacted by the spaces we inhabit…

I live in an urban environment where tearing down and building up surrounds my every day. I am intrigued, and like an archeologist pick through rubble of past sidewalks and rooms. My work embraces examples of the wear and tear of urban deconstruction: worn color, frayed edges, drips, rust, while reverently exposing the inherent beauty in all.

However, I am also drawn to nature’s colors, patterns, and structures. I wonder if its contrast to the built environment makes natural beauty all the more striking? My work with natural elements explore these components microscopically, abstractly, and sometimes serendipitously.
